The Hebrew word for wings, kānāp, is employed here as a metaphor for God’s care, and as such is a well-known image of God as protector (Pss. 17:8; 36:8; 63:8; 91:4).93 Boaz’s reply is beautifully apposite to the picture of the pious Israelite’s expectations of God.
